What Is a Pure Retinol Peel?

A professional retinol peel is an advanced resurfacing treatment designed to support skin renewal and improve the appearance of uneven tone, texture and visible signs of aging.

At ReJuvU Beauty Haven, we offer 4% and 6% Pure Retinol Peel options, allowing us to select the appropriate treatment based on your skin, concerns, treatment history and goals.

Retinol, a form of vitamin A, supports healthy skin-cell turnover. When used in a professional peel, it can help improve the appearance of sun damage, uneven pigmentation, rough texture, fine lines and post-acne discoloration over time.

Unlike many of our customized chemical peels that may cause little visible flaking, a Pure Retinol Peel can produce noticeable dryness, flaking or peeling in the days following treatment. The goal isn't to make your skin peel as much as possible—it's to choose the appropriate treatment intensity for your skin and desired level of correction.

Stronger isn't always better. The 4% and 6% options allow your provider to choose the treatment that best fits your skin rather than simply selecting the highest concentration.

4% vs. 6% Pure Retinol Peel: What's the Difference?

Both treatments use professional-strength retinol to support skin renewal, but the right concentration depends on your skin, treatment history and goals. At ReJuvU Beauty Haven, we select the treatment based on the level of correction your skin needs—not simply which percentage is higher.

4% Pure Retinol Peel

A professional retinol peel designed to rejuvenate a wide range of skin types. The 4% option may be appropriate when we want advanced resurfacing while taking a more measured approach to treatment intensity.

May be considered for:

  • Uneven tone and pigmentation
  • Dull or rough texture
  • Visible signs of sun damage
  • Fine lines and signs of aging
  • Guests progressing into professional retinol treatments

6% Pure Retinol Peel

Our more intensive Pure Retinol Peel option, the 6% treatment is generally reserved for normal to resilient skin when a higher-intensity resurfacing treatment is appropriate. Treatment selection depends on your skin, previous treatment experience, concerns and goals.

May be considered for:

  • More advanced visible sun damage
  • Stubborn uneven pigmentation
  • More pronounced rough or uneven texture
  • Visible signs of skin aging
  • Guests who may benefit from a more intensive retinol treatment

Because this is a more concentrated treatment, greater visible peeling and downtime may occur, and it will not be the right choice for every guest.

Which one is right for me?

You don't need to decide before your appointment. During your skin consultation, we'll evaluate your skin, concerns and treatment history and recommend the most appropriate treatment for you.

What to Expect After Your Retinol Peel

A Pure Retinol Peel continues working after you leave the spa, so peeling may not begin immediately. In the days following treatment, you may experience dryness, tightness, redness, flaking or visible peeling as your skin moves through the renewal process.

Peeling commonly develops within the first several days after treatment. The amount of visible peeling varies depending on your skin and the treatment selected, with the 6% Pure Retinol Peel generally producing a more intensive recovery than the 4% treatment.

Never pick, pull or scrub peeling skin. Allow it to shed naturally to help protect the newly resurfaced skin and reduce the risk of irritation and unwanted pigmentation.

KEEP IT COOL
For the first 48 hours, avoid excessive heat, very hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs and strenuous exercise or activities that cause significant sweating.

KEEP IT GENTLE
Use gentle skincare and supportive moisture while your skin recovers. Avoid scrubs, cleansing brushes, retinoids, exfoliating acids and other potentially irritating active ingredients until peeling has finished and your provider has advised you to resume them.

PROTECT YOUR RESULTS
Use broad-spectrum
SPF 30+ every day and minimize direct sun exposure while your skin heals. Sun protection is especially important after resurfacing treatments to help reduce the risk of unwanted pigmentation.

Your Post-Peel Home Care

Your esthetician will recommend appropriate post-peel home care based on your treatment and skin. Following your recommended regimen helps support your skin barrier, keep your skin comfortable and protect your results throughout recovery.

Support Your Recovery with CO₂Lift PRO

For additional support after your peel, CO₂Lift PRO Carboxy Gel Treatment may be recommended as part of your post-treatment recovery plan to help soothe, hydrate and support freshly resurfaced skin.

The treatment uses carboxytherapy to increase oxygen delivery to the skin while providing intensive hydration—making it a valuable option when skin feels dry, tight or sensitized following an advanced resurfacing treatment.

Your ReJuvU provider can recommend the appropriate timing for CO₂Lift PRO based on whether you receive the 4% or 6% Pure Retinol Peel and how your skin is recovering.

Is a Pure Retinol Peel Right for You?

A Pure Retinol Peel may be a good option if you're looking for a more intensive resurfacing treatment to address concerns such as uneven pigmentation, sun damage, rough texture and visible signs of skin aging—and you're comfortable allowing time for visible peeling and recovery.

Because these are advanced professional treatments, the right peel depends on more than your skin concern alone. During your consultation, your esthetician will evaluate your skin, treatment history, current skincare routine and goals before recommending the appropriate treatment.

A Pure Retinol Peel May Help Improve:

  • Uneven pigmentation or post-acne discoloration
  • Visible sun damage
  • Rough or uneven skin texture
  • Fine lines and visible signs of aging
  • Dull, lackluster skin
  • More stubborn concerns that may benefit from advanced resurfacing

Another Treatment May Be a Better Fit If:

  • Your skin is currently irritated, sensitized or compromised
  • You aren't able to accommodate visible peeling and recovery
  • Your recent treatments or current skincare routine make a retinol peel inappropriate at this time
  • Your skin concerns may respond better to a different resurfacing or rejuvenation treatment

You Don't Have to Choose 4% or 6%

That's our job. We'll evaluate your skin and recommend the appropriate treatment and strength based on what your skin actually needs. In some cases, that may mean recommending a customized chemical peel or another treatment instead of a Pure Retinol Peel.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pure Retinol Peels

  • How much peeling should I expect?

Visible peeling varies from person to person. You may experience dryness, tightness, flaking or more noticeable peeling in the days following treatment. The 6% Pure Retinol Peel generally produces a more intensive recovery than the 4% treatment. Your esthetician will discuss what to expect based on the treatment selected for you.

  • When will my skin start peeling?

Peeling typically develops within the first several days following treatment rather than immediately after your appointment. Your individual response can vary, so it’s important to follow your post-peel instructions even if your skin has not started flaking yet.

  • How long is the downtime?

Plan for several days when dryness, tightness, flaking or visible peeling may occur. Recovery varies depending on your skin and treatment intensity. If you have an important event coming up, let us know during your consultation so we can help you plan your treatment timing appropriately.

  • Can I wear makeup after my peel?

Your esthetician will give you specific post-treatment instructions based on your peel and skin. Because freshly treated skin can be more sensitive, follow your recommended post-peel regimen and avoid introducing products before your provider advises you to do so.

  • Can I exercise after my peel?

We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, excessive sweating and activities that significantly raise skin temperature for the first 48 hours following treatment.

  • When can I restart retinol and exfoliants?

Not immediately. Retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs and other potentially irritating active ingredients should be avoided while your skin is peeling and recovering. Your esthetician will tell you when it is appropriate to resume your normal products.

  • How is a retinol peel different from a chemical peel?

Both are professional resurfacing treatments, but they are not interchangeable. ReJuvU offers customized PCA Skin® chemical peels as well as 4% and 6% Pure Retinol Peel options. The appropriate treatment depends on your skin, concerns, treatment history, desired level of correction and ability to accommodate downtime.

  • Is 6% better than 4%?

Not necessarily. A higher concentration does not automatically make a treatment better for your skin. The 6% option is a more intensive treatment and may be appropriate for normal to resilient skin, while the 4% option allows for a more measured approach to professional retinol resurfacing. Your esthetician will recommend the appropriate treatment rather than simply choosing the highest percentage.

  • How should I protect my skin afterward?

Gentle home care and sun protection are essential during recovery. Use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every day, minimize direct sun exposure and follow the personalized post-peel home-care regimen recommended by your esthetician.

  • How should I protect my skin afterward?

CO₂Lift PRO Carboxy Gel Treatment may be recommended as part of your recovery plan to provide additional hydration and support following resurfacing. Your provider will recommend appropriate timing based on your treatment and how your skin is recovering.
