Sculptra in West Point, Utah: How Collagen-Stimulating Injections Work
As facial collagen gradually decreases with age, changes such as volume loss, wrinkles, and changes in facial contours can become more noticeable. Sculptra® offers a different approach to facial rejuvenation by stimulating your body's own collagen production over time.
At ReJuvU Beauty Haven in West Point, Utah, Sculptra treatments are performed by Clayton Bass, a board-certified physician who performs all injectable treatments at our practice. Rather than simply adding immediate volume, Sculptra is designed to produce gradual, natural-looking improvement as new collagen develops.

What Is Sculptra and How Does It Work?
Sculptra is an injectable treatment made with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible material that helps stimulate collagen production within the skin. Unlike traditional hyaluronic acid fillers, which are used to provide more immediate volume and contour, Sculptra works gradually.
As your body responds to treatment and produces new collagen, improvements develop over time. The goal isn't to make you look suddenly “filled,” but to gradually restore support and improve facial contours in a way that looks natural.
Results can last up to two years for many patients, although individual treatment needs and results vary.
What Can Sculptra Treat?
Sculptra can be used to address age-related volume loss and improve facial structure and contour. Depending on your anatomy and goals, treatment may help improve:
- Facial volume loss
- Hollow or sunken areas
- Cheek and midface support
- Nasolabial folds and other facial wrinkles
- Overall facial contour and skin support
Sculptra isn't intended to create the same immediate, targeted correction as traditional dermal filler. During your consultation, Dr. Bass will determine whether Sculptra, dermal filler, another injectable—or a combination approach—is best suited to your goals.
Sculptra vs. Dermal Filler: What's the Difference?
Although both can be used to address facial volume loss, they work differently.
Traditional hyaluronic acid fillers add volume directly to a specific area and typically create visible correction immediately. They're especially useful when precise contouring or targeted volume is desired.
Sculptra is a collagen stimulator. The initial volume associated with treatment does not represent the final result. Instead, improvement develops gradually as your body produces additional collagen.
Neither is automatically “better.” The right choice depends on your facial anatomy, the area being treated, how quickly you'd like to see a change, and the type of result you're hoping to achieve.
What Should You Expect From a Sculptra Treatment Plan?
Sculptra is generally approached as a treatment series rather than a one-time injection.
At ReJuvU, a typical starting plan may include two vials at the initial treatment followed by an additional vial approximately three to six weeks later. Your individual treatment plan may differ depending on your age, facial anatomy, degree of volume loss, and desired outcome.
Because Sculptra works by stimulating collagen production, results develop progressively rather than overnight. Maintenance treatments may be recommended approximately every six to twelve months, depending on your individual response and goals.
When Will I See Sculptra Results?
Patience is part of the Sculptra process.
Some temporary fullness may be visible immediately following treatment due to the solution used during injection, but this is not the final Sculptra result. As that initial fullness subsides, your body's collagen-building response continues.
Changes generally become more noticeable gradually over the following weeks and months. This progressive improvement is one of the reasons Sculptra appeals to patients who prefer facial rejuvenation that doesn't appear to happen overnight.
Is There Downtime After Sculptra?
Most patients can return to many normal activities shortly after treatment. Temporary injection-site effects such as swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising can occur.
Dr. Bass will provide aftercare instructions based on your treatment. Following those instructions is important for supporting proper healing and your treatment outcome.
If you have an important event approaching, tell us during your consultation so we can help you plan your treatment timing appropriately.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Sculptra?
Sculptra may be worth considering if you're noticing facial volume loss and prefer gradual rejuvenation rather than an immediate change.
However, injectable treatment should never be one-size-fits-all. Your medical history, facial anatomy, previous treatments, current medications, and aesthetic goals all matter.
A consultation allows Dr. Bass to evaluate these factors and discuss whether Sculptra is appropriate for you—or whether another treatment would better accomplish what you're hoping to achieve.
Why Physician-Performed Injectables Matter
Injectable treatments require a detailed understanding of more than injection placement alone. Facial anatomy, vascular structures, product selection, injection technique, complication recognition, and treatment planning all contribute to safe, appropriate care.
At ReJuvU Beauty Haven, Clayton Bass is a board-certified physician and performs all injectable treatments, including Sculptra, Botox®, Dysport®, dermal fillers, Radiesse®, and Kybella®.
Our goal is not to change what makes you look like you. It's to develop a treatment plan that respects your natural features while addressing the concerns that brought you in.
